7SecurityHabitsEveryEmployeeShouldPracticeDaily

Most breaches don’t start with a hacker cracking a firewall, they start with a person. A rushed click on a Friday afternoon, a reused password, or an unlocked laptop at a coffee shop could be the root cause of a security incident for your business. Security is a daily habit every employee carries, whether they realize it or not. Here are seven simple habits worth building into the workday.
1. Pause Before You Click
Phishing emails mimic real senders and creates false urgency. A two-second pause before clicking a link or opening an attachment, especially one demanding immediate action, stops most of them cold. Phishing is still the top delivery method for credential theft and ransomware.
2. Use a Password Manager, Not Your Memory
Reused passwords mean one breached site can unlock every other account. A password manager generates and stores unique, complex passwords, so credential-stuffing attacks have nothing to work with.
3. Turn On MFA Everywhere It’s Offered
Multi-factor authentication adds five seconds to login and blocks the vast majority of automated account-takeover attempts even when a password is stolen.
4. Lock Your Screen Every Time You Step Away
A quick coffee break or hallway chat is all it takes for an unlocked screen to become an open door. Locking it (Windows+L / Cmd+Ctrl+Q) should be as automatic as closing a door behind you. Physical access bypasses almost every other control in place.
